Motorola has just announced its most affordable unlocked 4G LTE smartphone. The second generation Moto E has received several upgrades, 4G LTE radio, a larger 4.5-inch display, 64-bit processor and more for $149.99.
Motorola’s most successful smartphone to date isn’t its current flagship Moto X, or even its predecessor, the original Moto X released in 2013 — it’s the midrange Moto G. After the Moto G’s huge success, Motorola shifted gears and designed an impressive handset that would cater to first-time smartphone users and whose price would undercut the unlocked Moto G’s original $179.99 price. The company achieved this when it launched the Moto E in May 2014, which was priced in some areas at the very sweet $99 price point.
Motorola is once again gracing the smartphone world with an ultra affordable Moto E that comes with some significant upgrades, such as a larger display and 4G LTE connectivity, something many current Moto E owners and tech critics griped about with the first-generation offering.
The new Moto E 4G LTE features a 4.5-inch qHD Gorilla Glass 3 display with a resolution of 540 x 960 and a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch (ppi). It’s powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, Adreno 302 GPU (graphics processing unit), 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. It also packs in a 5-megapixel rear camera and VGA front-facing shooter. The Moto E packs in a 2,390 mAh battery, which Motorola claims will provide up to 24 hours of mixed usage.
“Check out the video to find out more about what’s new in the next generation Moto E. It has Lollipop, the latest Android OS, works at fast 4G speeds, and even has ability to personalize it using colorful Motorola Bands. For me though, my favorite part of Moto E is how we brought some of our most premium experiences to our most affordable phone for the first time,” said Magno Herran, a Motorola marketing official, on the company’s blog.
You can now purchase the new unlocked Moto E with 4G LTE from Motorola’s online store for $149.99 in color choices of black or white.
