Anemia - Deficiency of Red Blood in Pakistani Women

The most valuable fluid that flows in arteries of human body is blood. It is made up by red blood cells, each red blood cell carries Hemoglobin with itself. Hemoglobin helps in carrying oxygen to each cell of human body and it gives health and reddish glow to skin. Iron is the main constituent of Hemoglobin and is needed in excess by human body.

Iron deficiency is much common in our country as it affects more than 60% of Pakistan’s population. Mostly ladies from 20 years to 50 years are found as the victims of iron deficiency. Anemia is disastrous deficiency of red blood cells in human body; its signs in severe cases are reduced appetite, headache, easy fatigability, pale skin and palpitations. Its common symptoms include nervousness, lack of concentration and unsatisfactory performance at college or work, unusual hair fall and noticeable inclination towards eatable goods.

If you find such symptoms in your body, the next thing you need to do is to go for a CBC (Complete Blood Count) test from a nearest laboratory. If you find the value of Hemoglobin below 11g/dl in test results, it means you are suffering from anemia. In such case you need to consult a doctor at the first place, he then may prescribe you to take iron supplements as per your body requirement.

Pakistani women suffer from anemia because of less dietary intake of iron, irregular periods, pregnancy or unusual removal of liquid. Ladies having pregnancy must eat spinach as it contains iron and folic acid or consult with a famous Gynecologist. There is a saying, which states that prevention is much better than cure,, so during pregnancy and menstruation, the waste of blood is unavoidable and must be treated on time.

In our women, iron deficiency can be controlled through proper diet. The list of food items which can help in maintaining a good health are listed below:

Iron Containing Food
There are many food items that contain iron and folic acid. Red meat (beef) is a great source of iron and is better than fish or poultry. In vegetables spinach (palak), kidney beans (Lobia), saag, beetroot, cauliflower, beetroot and sweet potatoes contain much iron and folic acid. Fruits like almonds, nuts, dried figs, apple, grapes, raisins and watermelon are rich in iron. These fruits and vegetables are easily available in your nearest market. Vegetables are considered to be better than meat because of less cholesterol problems.

Ladies suffering from anemia must not take tea before or after meal. Use lemon often in your diet as it carries Vitamin C that helps in absorption of iron in human body. Make sure that the above mentioned vegetables are minimally cooked to avoid loss of nutrition. Tea contains Tannin that causes reduction of iron in intestines; so spread awareness as mostly women take tea in the breakfast. Women must cut down on the addiction of tea or try to take it minimally.

These healthy tips might help in reducing the deficiency of anemia and Pakistani women can be more healthier and good in shape.
